Infamous Us Presidential Controversies That Changed History
James Buchanan
As we’ve already seen, several presidents have been rumored to be homosexual however, most historians agree that the only president who was likely gay was James Buchanan.
Buchanan, who served as president from 1857 to 1861, never married, nor had any notable relationships with any women. In addition, he lived with Senator William Rufus King for 15 years. The nature of their relationship was discussed openly at the time, with political rival Andrew Jackson even referring to the two as “Miss Nancy” (King) and “Aunt Fancy” (Buchanan).
In addition, Arron Brown (Buchanan’s postal secretary) referred to King as the president’s wife.
