Born and raised in Brooklyn, Lil' Kim (born Kimberly Denise Jones) started rapping when she was still in her teens. She got her big start in 1995 when she hooked up with the late Notorious B.I.G. (Christopher Wallace) and his group Junior M.A.F.I.A.

She was just 19 years old at the time. Kim and Biggie became a couple and dated on-again-off-again until his 1997 murder. Lil' Kim's debut album, "Hard Core," came out in 1996. It had there #1 hits and the album went double platinum. Her next two albums went platinum as well, making Kim a legit superstar.
