Cybill Shepherd's role in Taxi Driver opposite Robert DeNiro is probably what brought her to the public eye but what cemented that relationship was her role in TV's Moonlighting in the 1980s as Maddie Hayes. Maddie Hayes was the owner of a failing detective agency and Bruce Willis was the reluctant detective brought in to turn it round. The couple's on-screen chemistry was legendary and the series ran for four years as something of a global hit.

Interesting fact: Shepherd Bruce Willis considered having an affair while they worked together, but decided not to in order to avoid bringing any extra drama that could potentially affect the show. As she told Access Hollywood, "I said, ‘We shouldn't,' and then he said, ‘We shouldn't,' and so we didn't… We worked so long together, it was probably better not to"
